Associated Press: Fiorina added to speakers lineup at SC Citizens United event

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – The organizers of an upcoming South Carolina gathering that features a number of potential Republican presidential contenders said Monday they have added another name to the guest list.

Organizers of the May 9 summit organized by Citizens United and U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan told The Associated Press former Hewlett-Packard chief executive Carly Fiorina will attend. Fiorina joins other speakers including Texas Gov. Rick Perry, and U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, former New York Gov. George Pataki and U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., are also scheduled to attend. The event’s website also lists U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, the only African-American expected to enter the race; and William O’Brien, former speaker of the New Hampshire House as coming.

Similar events have been held in Iowa and New Hampshire, two other early voting states. Online, event organizers advertise the event as a forum that’s free to the public where the “principles of pro-growth economics, social conservatism, and a strong national defense” will be discussed.
