New York business magnate and media personality Donald Trump is headed to Greenville.
He’ll join a long list of Republican politicians, including two who have announced campaigns for president, at the South Carolina Freedom Summit on May 9, according to organizers, who have been announcing the speakers one at a time.
The event is scheduled for the Peace Center on the same weekend as Greenville’s annual Artisphere festival.
It’s being organized by Citizens United, a conservative activist group, in conjunction with U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan of Laurens.
Trump has said he may run for president this cycle, as he did in 2008 and 2012.
He’s got a lot of ground to make up with South Carolina Republicans if he does decide to jump in the race, according to a recent Winthrop University poll.
